Last night UK beat the Vols in Knoxville by a score of 6-0, moving the Cats to 3-0-0 on the young season. This was not only the Wildcats second straight shutout, but was goalie Eric Williams second straight as well. Last weekend Williams got his first career shutout against Akron, and followed that up last night with his second career shutout against the Vols. The Cats have only given up one goal in three games this season. The defense and goalies have been great so far this season.
Kentucky would get goals from Ryan Duffy and Zach Bartuce in the first for a 2-0 lead.
Max Proctor and Mikey Liszka each tallied goals in the second for a 4-0 lead.
Proctor would score again in the third, and Captain Jimmy Kasch would score the final goal of the game for a 6-0 win over the Vols.
Again, like each of the first two games of the season, it was a solid mix of veteran and new players making contributions. This team is able to move the puck, get points from multiple players, plays great defense, and the goalies have been lights out so far this season. If the team keeps this up, and continues to grow, it is going to be a very special year.
The Cats will play Tennessee again tonight in Knoxville, looking to move to 4-0-0 on the year. GO CATS!!
